UO Salary Guide

Exercising public records requests, this interactive “Salary Guide,” created by Tarek, shows the salaries of all faculty members at the University of Oregon. The guide displays individual salaries and departmental salary costs, including minimum, maximum, median, and average salaries per department.

This project aims to bring salary transparency to UO students, parents, faculty, and Oregon taxpayers, showing where their money goes.

In June 2024, the salary guide won first place for the Pensiero Editorial Award in the Multimedia Category.

Bike Theft Heat Map

Utilizing public records requests, Tarek created an interactive heat map that displays the locations of all bicycle thefts in and around the University of Oregon campus.

This project aims to raise awareness among students and community members about the importance of securely locking their bikes and highlights specific areas where extra caution is advised.
